Enough of the Procrastination!

No secret was made of the idea that creating the family budget is one of the toughest tasks a family can do.  No one wants to do it.  No one wants to face the fact that they have $ X.XX in income and $ X.XX+ $Y.YY in expenses.

Once again, don’t waste your time if you can’t face the facts of your income vs. your expenditures.  Stop following this blog now if you don’t have the courage to follow through.  Perhaps, that sounds a little harsh.  The truth is that each and everyone of us has to make a choice.  We can either continue along the path we are on or we can change course now.

Things to think about:

  • If you continue doing (spending without acknowledgement) what you are doing today, where will you be this time next year, in five years, or in ten years?
  • If you don’t know where you are going or how to get there, will you know when you arrive?
  • Is it more important to look successful or to be successful?

Think about these ideas.  Don’t pretend to think about them.  Have a sit down talk with yourself and decide if you have the courage to face your expenditures… not only the electric bill, the gas bill, the mortgage… but all expenditures, including the trip to Starbucks.

Begin getting out all your bills and receipts.  Organize them, all the electric bills in one stack, all the credit card statements in another, and so on.  Begin making notes on the little expenditures that “don’t count” like the ten dollars you gave to your daughter this morning for school or the soda you purchased at work from the Coke machine.  Do it now.  Begin right this moment.  Get your bills and receipts together.

It’s time to see where we are financially, if we are going to create a family budget.
