Conceivable
A goal must be conceivable. That sounds easy enough. If you can think of it, it can be said to be conceivable. But, there is a little more to it than that.
When you begin to set your goal, you must come up with ideas, concepts. Since we have talked about grocery shopping, let’s see if you can create a savings goal. Can you imagine yourself saving 33% on your grocery shopping costs? We have discussed setting a family budget but can you imagine creating a budget?
Just because you have never done either of the examples above does not mean that you cannot conceive it. John Kennedy talked about going to the moon during the 1960’s. No one had ever been to the moon, but it was an idea that fascinated Kennedy and he set it as a national goal. That’s a great example.
Most of us are not ready for a trip to the moon, but we can dream. That is where conceivable goals begin. If you are deep in credit card debt, close your eyes and see yourself debt free. Experience what it would feel like to not have credit card statements filling your mailbox. Allow yourself to dream of getting your paycheck and not owing half of it to a credit card company. How would you feel if you went to work and knew that you were working for yourself, not the credit card companies?
Close your eyes, lay back, relax and allow yourself to dream of your perfect world. It is not as crazy as it may seem at first. This is the first step in recreating your reality. Dream, imagine, think, visualize. All great accomplishments come from visualizing what you want and what you want to accomplish.
For today, I suggest that you relax and let your mind wander into that reality that you wish to have. And, no BUTS! We will take care of the “exceptions” and excuses for failure on another day. For today, just picture yourself as you want to be.
Write down what you see in that reality. Visualize your best world and write down how it would look, how it would be, how you would act.
Do not limit yourself. Most limitations are self-imposed. Release yourself from the constraints of your mind. Be free to dream. Be free to think big. Be free to conceive.
