Growth Facilitating or Beneficial
No matter what your goal, it will have no meaning unless you find a benefit in accomplishing it. It must make you grow and be of benefit to you.
Again, we go back to the goal of eliminating credit card debt. Initially, it may seem punishing. But, in the long run paying off your debt will be beneficial and it will definitely facilitate personal growth.
What are the benefits of being free from credit card debt? First of all, not having that monthly minimum balance will free up part of your income for savings, if that is what you choose. Think of it like this. If you pay $200 a month on your credit card, what would it feel like to put $200 a month in savings? At the end of the year you would have $2400. How would you feel knowing that you have $2400 that is yours, not owed to anyone? How would you feel if you knew that when you wanted that new dress, you could pay cash for it? Think about that for a minute. You pay for the dress or you put the dress on your credit card. If you pay for it in cash, the dress is yours and you can enjoy it every time you wear it. If you put it on your credit card, you are paying a little extra for it every month.
Someone figured out that if you purchase a dress on your credit card on average you pay three times the retail price of the dress. Think about that for a minute. If you purchase a dress for $100, would you be willing to pay $300 for the same dress? That’s about what it amounts to.
Using this one example, we should be able to see where reaching our goal of eliminating our credit card debt and having cash in our future is beneficial.
Whatever your goal, you should have it somewhat refined by now if you are following each of the steps. This last step if about emotions, feelings, experiences. Think of how good you will feel with money in the bank, rather than sending it off every month to a credit card company. That is definitely beneficial and growth facilitating.
