No Depression in This Recession!
With every adversity there is an equivalent or greater benefit! We must keep that in mind. One man’s misfortune is another man’s opportunity. Of course, none of us are enjoying the misfortune that has occurred during the present economic crisis. It has touched all of us in one way or another.
However, it’s time to look on the other side of the door, to discover our pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, so to speak. There has never been a better time in our lives to take advantage of a golden opportunity. And, this is a golden opportunity. We can grab the gold ring. Are you thinking I’m crazy? Probably. But, think about it.
Economists are talking about the economy flatlining. Think about what that means to you and me. I hope you get as excited about it as I am. First of all, if you have suffered financial losses, you have to make a choice. You can whine and cry and join the pity party. If that is your choice, stop reading now. You are wasting your time.
If you are still reading, obviously you are looking for an alternative way to look at the economic recession. First of all, stop worrying about what is gone. It’s gone. It isn’t coming back… at least not in the same form. And, you are wasting time. Right now, time is of the essence. So, let’s move forward.
I prefer to look at the flatlining economy as a way of giving you and me the opportunity of a lifetime. Instead of seeing a flatline, I see a playing field that has been leveled. That’s right. The playing field has been partially leveled and by the time this economic stumble is over I am suggesting that it will be much more level.
Do you prefer to see the negatives of an economic flatline or the positives of a level playing field? Those of us who choose to see the economic flatline as an end all will always be on the bottom of the heap. However, if you look around and see all the “players” on the same level, you now realize that you… yes, YOU… have the opportunity to rise above the masses and create the success you always dreamed of.
You can enter an emotional depression and pull the economic recession over your as your excuse for continued stagnation in life. Or, you can see the signs that are all around us and say, “No depression in this recession!” And, there are signs that are all around us, positive signs, those little signs that haunt you and trigger your imagination.
For example… think of all the big chain retailers that have gone bust. It has even been reported that some 2,000 to 3,000 malls will close in 2009. Think about that! No Macy’s in your town. No Goody’s in your town. No Linens’N'Things in your town. Oh, my! The list is endless… and growing.
Now think of those wonderful little shops that you loved when you were younger… those Mom and Pop shops, locally owned and operated. Maybe you always wanted to own a business. (You are now thinking that I have lost my mind if you have figured out where I am heading.)
If you have engaged in visualization and committed your dreams to paper as suggested in previous posts, you have begun to set out a plan, whether you realized it or not. There is absolutely no reason you cannot begin to take action. Engage in thinking and planning time. Create a plan for success. But, don’t take too long. It is estimated that this economic downturn will last only about a year before the upturn begins.
Now, here’s the bottomline. You can crawl through 2009, whining and crying about everything that is going on the world… all that stuff you can do nothing about. Or, you can look at this year as your year of preparation for the success you have dreamed of. Some of us won’t need the whole year.
This is the most exciting time of my life! I see opportunities everywhere… more and more every day! Start looking for the signs… the opportunities. They are becoming more and more abundant. In fact, there are so many choices available to us today that the hard part will be to determine which opportunity to grasp.
We will cover a few tips on getting started on the road to success during the rest of this week. There is bountiful opportunities for all of us. Get your head on straight. We don’t have time to waste.
